Senior Lead Software Engineer (f/m) 80-100%

Tamedia is the leading private media group in Switzerland. The digital platforms, daily and weekly newspapers and magazines of Tamedia offer overview, classification and selection. The company was founded in 1893 and employs a staff of approximately 3,400 in Switzerland, Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, Israel, Luxembourg and Serbia. It has been traded at the Swiss stock exchange since 2000.

Second-hand is our specialty - from classic design pieces to unique coins and stamps, to the latest electronic appliances and tractors, our 3 million members buy and sell successfully on ricardo.ch. The thrill of winning an auction, the excitement of making a good deal, the satisfaction of being environmentally responsible - this is ricardo.ch!

As Lead Software Engineer, you spread ideas and energy to the software development teams of ricardo.ch, and help drive the work of engineering forward. Your daily interactions with engineers, tech leads, and managers help them get great results. You’re a hacker, a teacher and a great developer. Your knowledge of architectural patterns and concepts can help teams to make the right decisions: whether it’s in domain-driven design, API contracts, test automation, microservices, or how to mod the 3D printer to make time-lapse movies of prints.
About 60% of the job is planning and supporting engineering work with cross-functional teams. The other 40% is training, communication and strategy.
Our engineers are building a next-generation marketplace platform, using a mix of Golang, Java, React, Kafka, with traditional and graph databases, wired together in a  microservice and domain-driven architecture which runs on GCP. We typically deploy into production 30 times per day, leveraging LaunchDarkly flags and A/B tests. With all of this happening in many different teams, alignment and shared understanding are key. Your job is to help make things flow, and to help engineers stay happy and keep growing.
Our geek culture is strong - we organize hack days, workshops, attend tech conferences, organize trainings and sometimes hack hardware together. We have a strong work ethic: each engineer works in a team, together with product and design, and takes strong responsibility for their commitments. We also like to have fun - we take our work seriously, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously.
